What is a track?

A track is a saved search request which immediately delivers online articles. The list updates in real-time giving you instant access to newly published articles. You only have to configure a track once with your topics and fields of interest by providing detailed information on your subject. From then onwards you can access all newly added online feeds - either in the tool or your personal mailbox – as you prefer. Using Opinion Tracker is simple. Just register your account online to give it a try. You can start as soon as you receive your account data from us.

Setting up a track

Setting up a track

Setting up a track is simple and flexible. You can use one or more key words. Furthermore you can block certain search terms, combine them with each other or exclude one or another. Our results show previous web articles and are continuously updated.

For example: Would you like to know what is written about Mount Everest? Then enter Mount Everest as the key word. If you then add Himalaya next to Mount Everest, you expand your search field. If you do not wish to get any results concerning K2, you can easily exclude this search term.

Timeline

The timeline is a core navigation element in Opinion Tracker. You can use the interactive timeline to narrow down the results within a certain time frame. It is possible to either view results dating back a long time as well as results from the past few weeks – whatever suits you. Depending on which time period you choose, the results and lists of persons, topics and organisations will update continuously.

The timeline shows hits connected to your search request and provides information such as date and type of media (e.g. blog entry or forum entry). You can find the total number of results from your selected time period just beneath the timeline. You can also easily adapt the time period shown in your timeline to suit your needs.

Email status update

Email status update

The daily email status update keeps you informed about the latest changes in your track. It is also possible to receive status updates for more than one track. Following your subscription, you will receive an e-mail with the three most important articles from the previous day. In addition we also send you a list of other relevant people, organisations and topics connected to your track.

You can choose between receiving one mail for all of your tracks, or an individual mail for each of your tracks.

Track sharing

Track sharing is another exciting opportunity we offer! This function simply allows you to share tracks with other people. Opinion Tracker's dashboard allows you to manage who can see and/or edit which tracks. Three different roles can be allocated: “Manager”, “User” and “Viewer” enable you to take full control of what is happening.

“Users” may be given a read/write authorisation to your tracks whereas “Viewers” can only read but not make any changes. “Managers” always have all types of rights for all your tracks except private tracks.Tracks marked as “private” can only be viewed by the author.

Alert Function

Setting an alert function

Besides receiving a daily status update via mail, you may time the alert function, to receive an hourly update on your tracks. Under “My Tracks” you can adjust the usual daily email status update or change settings of the new hourly notifications.

Hide unwanted articles

Sometimes, it happens that articles fit your search request, but do not fit your interests. In order to avoid any unwanted articles and to keep your list tidy, simply hide them and show them again if required at a later point. You can also exclude whole sources instead of just individual articles, depending on your needs.

Due to automatic sentiment-analysis, you can see at first glance if your results are classified as positive, negative or neutral. If you do not agree with this evaluation, you can easily change it with one click. Opinion Tracker gives you the possibility to export your data into an Excel file, to further process your gathered information.

Reports by e-Mail

When clicking “Report by e-Mail” your current track settings will be exported and delivered in a two page-report containing charts and graphs of your data. Page one of the report shows quantitative data like your timeline, peaks and the types of media. On Page two of the report you will find further details like: sentiment analysis, semantic analysis of most important persons and topics as well as a word-cloud.
